Itinerary

Arrive in Sri Lanka and head to Negombo. This city is called ‘Little Rome’ for the many catholic churches that can be found. Visit the St. Mary’s Church which has murals of Jesus Christ that depict his life. Check into the hotel and relax on the first day of this journey.
Tour the city of Negombo and visit the iconic locations. Stroll through the city and visit the beach which is a warm and fun location. Then make your way to Sigiriya, stopping by the Pinnwala Elephant Sanctuary on the way. This is a sanctuary for orphaned and injured elephants that are being cared for by caretakers. Arrive at Sigiriya and check into the hotel.
Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This fortress is adorned with frescoes that are of stunning design. On the top, you can see the views of the scenery. After lunch, head to Polonnaruwa which is known for the many ruins scattered there. Polonnaruwa was once the secondary capital of Sri Lanka. Take a tour of this city where you can visit the ancient ruins.
Head to Anuradhapura, a city famous for the ‘Atamasthana’. Visit the world-renowned temples that were built hundreds of years ago. Walk through the city and learn the history of the ruins and temples. Return to Habarana and make your way to Minneriya in the afternoon. Head to the Minneriya National Park where you can get a glimpse of the herds of elephants that traverse the valleys.
En route to Kandy, make a stop the the Dambulla Cave Temples, where you can see a considerable number of murals of Lord Buddha and Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes in every crevice. Stop at the Spice Gardens in Matale. You can learn about the cultural importance of the spices and herbs grown here. They have had importance as both cuisine elements and for medicinal uses. Arrive in Kandy and relax at the hotel.
Go to the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy city. Situated close to the city’s centre, Kandy Lake this is a significant spot in Kandy. The priceless tooth relic of Lord Buddha is housed within this architectural wonder. Go to Peradeniya next. The Royal Botanical Gardens is open for visits here. Along with the lovely surroundings these gardens exude a sense of peace. After leaving the gardens, explore the city for gems, wood carvings silks, and batiks which are some of Sri Lankas traditional crafts. Return to Kandy in time to witness a cultural show.
On day seven, make your way to Nuwara Eliya. This cool climate city is famous among locals and visitors due to its temperature, earning it the nickname ‘Little England’. Tour the city of Nuwara Eliya and visit the tea plantations and factories which produce the world-famous tea of Sri Lanka. Make your way to Gregory Lake where you can enjoy a boat excursion to see the stunning sights.
In the morning, head to Horton Plains, a stunning reserve that is filled with magnificent wildlife, flora and fauna. You can come across elk grazing on the fields, or small rabbits as they hop around. In the afternoon, visit Nuwara Eliya to take in the sights.
Take a train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella. This allows you the opportunity to see some of the most daring sights. See towns that exist on the mountainsides, with waterfalls falling from tall heights. Explore the sights of this green city, such as the Nine Arches Bridge for the most picturesque sights.
As the morning sun rises on day ten, head to Yala. This southern city is home to the famous Yala National Park, known for its dense population of leopards. Take a jeep safari through the park where you can see a variety of wildlife, mainly the leopards as they prowl and lounge around.
Early in the morning, take a tour of Galle’s magnificent Dutch Fort which is regarded as Asia’s best-preserved sea fortress. Here lies the oldest breadfruit tree on the island. Enjoy a close-up look at the wetland ecosystem by taking the Madu River Boat ride. Visiting the turtle hatchery allows you to join in on the effort to protect the dying population of turtles which come to Sri Lankan beaches to lay eggs. Walking along the sandy Galle beach with your loved ones will help you create memories. Participate in an exciting day of water sports in the Bentota River on your final day in Galle.
Head out of Galle to the airport to depart Sri Lanka.
